Baseball Hitting The Right Way – And What Works For You

by jeff 1 Comment

Baseball HittingI’m an experienced baseball player and coach and continue to research the best ways to help you with hitting the baseball the right way.

I played ball for 14 years, lettering all three years in high school and even playing college in the 1990s. I have a passion for for this game and have made a goal to help as many players as possible with easy-to-learn hitting tips.

These hitting tips are for the advanced as well as for those who just want to know how to hit a ball.

I was blessed to have my dad teach me at a young age to hit a ball the right way and I hope I can help you. Please don’t hesitate to leave me any questions or feedback because I’d be delighted to assist you.

I honestly don’t mean to sound sarcastic in the title of this page. Let’s stress “the right way” because I’ve seen people teach kids in a way that doesn’t help them.

I also see gurus of today stressing the wrong things. I just want to make it simple.

Baseball hitting is fun, challenging and you should celebrate all your successes.

Remember, even Hall of Fame baseball players only get a hit three out of 10 times.

Baseball Hitting…Your Way

We are all constantly looking for ways to improve our batting. We study Major League players, buy books and practice as much as we can.

I’m here to tell you to find what works for you and stick with it.

Go back to the basics. Even if you have some success with hitting you should practice what has worked in the past.

I’m talking about standing properly in the batters box, holding your bat right and where to look and how to swing properly.

Practice batting off of a tee such as the MacGregor or G Tee which I have reviewed on this site.

The concept here is to train your eyes to watch the ball when you swing as well as just practicing over and over their hitting mechanics.

You can do this anywhere really. You can even do it at home if you have something to hit the ball against like a protective net.

I’ve seen some of the pros batting practice plans. Trust me, they work on the basics every single day. It’s all about repetition.

Remember to have fun. This is the greatest game in the world and it’s really fun to play. It’s especially fun to hit.

Do everything in your power to not get down on yourself because it absolutely will effect your hitting in a negative way.

Those are the slumps you want to avoid at all costs.

Baseball Hitting Tip on Conditioning

Your batting ability depends a lot on the strength of your forearms and wrists, as the bat is brought around faster with more bat speed.

It’s wise to strengthen your body in preparation for each season. You would then use a modified conditioning program during the season.

Trust me, I’ve seen some Major League Baseball players training plans and they are in-depth. They take conditioning very series.

They not only have personal programs for lifting weights but also flexibility, plyometrics and medicine ball work.

There are also exercise drills for making sure you have quick hands and quick feet.

It’s great too if right before you go up to bat you swing two or three bats to loosen up and put a weight on the bat and swing it around.

This not only loosens you up, but over time it builds strength in the arms.

There are also training aids that can help you in this area too such as specialized bat weights and batting gloves which have weights in them to help you strengthen your hands and wrists.

One of my favorites are the Pure Grip baseball gloves. I have a pair and they are comfortable and very helpful.

Watch the video below to see why these gloves are so great for your training.

Final Thoughts on Baseball Hitting

Two tips we talked about in this article are finding a hitting style just for you (Hitting…your way) and we also talked about conditioning.

There are more components than that but for this post I just wanted to focus on these so you’ll be hitting a baseball better in no time.

Without these two components you’ll be off one way or the other with your hitting.

You will have a very satisfied feeling if you take everything about hitting seriously. Practice and training are your way to experiencing the feeling of conquering while hitting at the plate.

Again, there isn’t just one way to learn hitting. I hope you take these tips and add them to your arsenal.

Great batting tips for hitting the right way. One thing I noticed with my daughter is that she has a great stance and that’s why I think she hits the ball so dang far with such little effort. Also, she has a nice composite bat now, that really did make a difference in the distance the ball travels now. Thanks for the tips.
