The Importance of a T Ball Batting Helmet

by jeff Leave a Comment

T Ball Batting HelmetThere’s no doubt that the T ball batting helmet is one of the most important safety equipment in all of sports.

Fastballs and hit balls can impact at such an immense force that it can even be fatal.

And even in T Ball, the use of the batting helmet must be required.

No one should hit without a safe and nice looking T ball batting helmet.

In a hurry?

Reasons for Using a T Ball Batting Helmet

Tee Ball Batting Helmet With MaskIt’s understandable if you first think that using a helmet when hitting in T ball doesn’t make sense.

It doesn’t seem important, because the ball isn’t hurtling towards the hitter’s head.

But that’s not true at all. There are plenty of good reasons to wear a helmet even in Tee Ball.

  • Even in tee ball, the ball can bounce from the tee towards the hitter’s head. This may not be all that common, but it actually happens every now and then

  • The tee ball helmet provides additional protection when the ball is thrown around the base paths.

In one case of youth baseball fatality, an 8-year old first baseman was hit with a thrown ball in the side of the neck, and died from the blunt force trauma.

  • It helps them develop the habit of using a batting helmet, so they even use it for casual games. It also helps them to become more accepting of athletic safety equipment in general.

  • Some leagues insist on the use of a mask along with the helmet. But this has met with some resistance, as it can diminish hitting performance.

However, if the player gets used to using a t ball helmet with mask then they’ll be able to compensate for the additional equipment.

It’s easy enough to convince parents and players that helmets must be mandatory even in T ball play. But then that leads to the question of which t ball helmets to use.

You should read up on the CDC guidelines on choosing the right size. Still, you need to pick the right brand and model.

To help you make your decision, here are some of our recommendations. These all meet NOCSAE standards, so you can take your pick.

It’s not always easy to get a t ball helmet in the right size. This one fits a range of head sizes among 3 to 4 year old baseball players.

So get a tape measure and get the measurement of the head circumference just above the ears.

If your kid measures in from 18⅝ inches to 20½ inches (or a hat size ranging 6 to 6.5 inches), then this Easton will fit just fine.

The good fit also comes from the soft urethane foam that’s also quite comfy.

There are several excellent reasons why this is a favorite among lots of players. First of all, it looks great. A lot of kids these days care about looking goofy.

Even professional MLB players will sacrifice safety as long as they don’t look like clowns. But this Easton looks great, with its slim profile and aerodynamic shape.

Get it in black, and it looks very cool indeed. It’s also literally cool, because it features the Bio-Dri fabric liner that wicks moisture for greater comfort.

Parents will like it too, because it’s safe. It uses a high-grade ABS shell that’s strong and durable, along with EVA impact foam.

And finally, it’s even affordable. You can get it online for less than $20.

This one uses the traditional Coolflo design that a lot of professionals use, as it features lots of air vents that keep the head cool when the player wears it.

That means there’s no annoyingly distracting discomfort that can take a young player’s focus from hitting the ball properly.

It is geared for hat sizes ranging from 6¼ to 6⅞ inches.

That’s a head circumference of 19¾ to 21⅝ inches. It meets NOCSAE standards, and it employs dual-density foam.

It’s even pre-drilled for the Rawlings face guards that are also NOCSAE-approved.

Many young players like this because the see the same style of helmet used by their favorite baseball players on TV.

Its molded finish also looks fine. With its comfortable vents, it really helps when the summer sun is shining brightly.

Who says that only boys can play baseball?

Girls can play too, you know.

After the media attention paid to Mo’ne Davis in the 2015 Little League World Series, more girls are participating in baseball.

And if that’s the case, then you need to get your little girl started with Tee ball first.

And this Worth batting helmet for Tee Ball is definitely for girls. You can easily tell, because the most popular color for it is pink.

With its model paint finish, it can really look striking on the baseball field, and it can make a young girl feel both athletic and feminine at the same time.

It offers a snug fit for the 6¼ to 6⅞ hat sizes, or 19¾ to 21⅝ inches in head circumference. And since lots of young ladies have long hair, it even offers a channel for ponytails to fit through.

Pink Tee Ball HelmetFor protection, it offers a hard shell and dual density foam, and for comfort it offers as many as 12 vents to keep the head cool and dry underneath the helmet and the hair.

The design comes with the mandatory double ear cover feature, and of course it meets NOCSAE standards.

It’s also been already drilled so it’s ready to incorporate a face guard, plus it has snaps so your girl can also use it with a chin guard.

Come to think of it, this doesn’t have to be a helmet for just girls. Some boys love pink, and they also sport long hair.

There’s nothing wrong with that! The only thing wrong is if you allow baseball players to play without a batting helmet.

Even in Tee ball, it’s better to be safe that concussed.
